With home grown-

quick meals

Potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, clove of garlic and basil, farmers market mushrooms (shitake & button) and caramelized onions. A dash of butter, salt & garam masala.

Now to make mom’s killer scambled eggs with ginger/garlic paste. :)

Quick whisk of 4 eggs (2 pp)
a big tablespoon of milk
1 tsp of ginger/garlic paste (any kind)
fresh pepper & arugula that i surprisingly found growing in my mint container for garnish.

Trick to scrambled without the double boiler technique is to put a bit of oil and butter in a non stick pan on medium heat, pour in the egg mixture, let sit for about 30 seconds and start Folding in the egg with a wooden serving spoon.
DO NOT whisk, stir with fork, or anything else that you can imagine doing with an egg i.e. Just elegantly “Fold”.

I like mine a bit runny, and threw in grated 4 cheeses at the very end for some heavenly gooey-ness.

For juice i decided to go with a mixture of Orange, hint of Passion fruit & Mango. A little bit of tangy, sweet and just ole fashion Indian kiddishness! Mangolaaaa still rocks btw. ;)

Scrambled Eggs recipeFinished product, decided to have breakfast outside considering it was a BEAUtiful Cali mornin! —>

The Kinks

12Jul10

How could you not love them, ever delish music. For starters, great name!

Then the loud, distorted guitar riff—achieved by a slice Dave Davies in”You Really Got Me” (August 1964). Satirical single “Sunny Afternoon”. Melancholically romantic Waterloo Sunset”. And one of my funny faves, cuz it just makes me smile – Lola, a song about a confused romantic encounter with a transvestite.

What’s your favorite Kinks’ song?

At 7:30 this morning I was awakened by a jack hammer sound that was reverberating through my entire bedroom area. Was it the much awaited earthquake? Was there some neighborhood construction that went wrong? Alarmed by it, I jumped out of bed. But then it stopped.

So, i decided to go makes some tea. Put the teapot on the stove and went for my customary peek into my backyard, wondering if its a beautiful Cali spring day. But wait! What the hell? A bunch of crows, at least 8-10 pecking on our lawn, which was unusual. Aware of my presence, they started cawing synchronously. It was unnerving, especially for someone who was barely awake! Undaunted though, i began shooing them away. But all they did was fly and perch themselves on the trees above, still squawking murderously. I decide to move closer to the house, but still looking up,  then suddenly one of them braver ones comes and flys right above my head. Wtf?! I got the message and retreated, who was I to mess around with them angry feathered fowl.

Finally tea in hand, find myself on the couch reading todays news and the hammering noise starts once again! Is this for real, i say to myself. Where is that sound coming from. Aha! then i realized that, i had switched on the sprinklers last night and I remember amongst all the chaos with the crows, hearing a ticking sound outside. Were they related somehow? So I decided to check, but were the crows still there? What do I do?

Now comes the fun part, I decide to take my boom box with me – music loud, read once that’s how tribes hunted animals, loud music disorients, right? But luckily for me, there was just one crow still cawing but eh, no numbers, no power. Bravely and cautiously I tread, switching off the music, patiently waiting for that ticking sound. Et voila, thats exactly what it was! Whew! There was only one thing left to do..

GOOGLE! “Hammering sound, sprinkler system”. There is actually a name for it, haha, u guess it – ‘Water Hammer‘. Without going into details of it, its something to do with air bubbles inside the pipe.

There was only two things to do, shut the sprinkler system and get my bee-bee gun out! ;)

This morning totally reminded of the great Mr. Hitchcock’s movie The Birds, so this ones for him! And heres a clip, that is eerily similar to my experience, without the children being attacked of course..

What a powerful voice…  Another classic to be enjoyed with some gin.

“he makes me feel alright, arrrrrupapapapa”

Etta James, in “Something got a hold on me”, Live, New York, 1966.

Beautiful song, an ole friend reminded me of. Since we’re almost there, weather wise i.e. Can’t wait for cali summer, though I don’t mind the rain every other week ;)

Enjoy!

Sorry peeps, I’ve been horrible at keeping up with my blog lately.. Way too many things are a happening. One being the recent visit by my 3 bro-in-laws (BILs) along with wives (SILs) and kids (CHILs), in the past 3 weeks. Its been a fun and was a long overdue ride. (bare with the acronyms, it’s for future references.  getting with the program ala SMS style)family visit

But as for the the timing of it, well not so sure. All I can say, is that starting up a company and extended family somehow (for lack of a better word), kills the creative juices… ;)

Will keep you in the loop, but for now we’ve gotta go drop one of the SILs to the airport.
Yeah I know, gotta keep the suspense going, or else how do you suppose I get you to come back? ;) At least its not as bad as Dancing With the Stars (DWTS)! But thats an entire different post, which I hope to get to some day soon.

Until next time, Ciao!

Sweeter Prices!

As anyone interested in a halfway decent suit knows, “under $1000? You gotta be kidding right?”. <unless you get them stitched in India, of course;)>

So when my eyes fell upon the article Title on the main page of the NY Times Style section, I clicked perhaps just for a laugh or two. Hideous, ill fitting, no lines, cheap colors is what I was thinking. But to my amazement, they seemed to have pulled it off! Duh! Who was I kidding,  NY Times – hellOh!?!

Just wanted to share with my readers. What do you think?

NY Times Article – Suits under $1000

Has been one question that has always eluded me. Could never get a straight Wikipedia answer to this one. Various friends in my experience have tried to reason with me, but somehow I never feel satiated. Here’s some of them -
- sales leads require titles, get to know its not a waste of their time.
why?
some startup guy/gal has reached out, check out their pedigree, its easy online nowadays anyways. Sir, its Mr. Puneet Arora; here are his creds and his claim to fame. url.punstar.com no, i meant ‘LinkedIn Profile. ;)
- Egos, egos, egos. Do you really want people who care, or expertise always trumps? Rest we figure out as we go along.
- Socially accepted “How’s the weather” bucket question. “So what do you do?” get it? I judge you by what you do.. how and when did that catch on anyways?
I’m sure there is more sociobabble about Flat organizations and how that works only in very minute groups. But moving on to my question, Is an organization without titles ever possible? I’m on a constant look-out for one who has the cojones to raise up to the challenge!
